Dr. Kate May, DDS - The Tooth Doc

Marty Matz, DDS

Dr. Matz knew he wanted to be a dentist by the time he was 4 years old.

Dr. Matz had a great dentist as a child who noticed his curiosity about the profession on his first visit and could see perhaps he would one day be a dentist like him. Looking back, Dr. Matz, recognized that his childhood dentist had excellent technical skills, was well educated, caring and friendly. Sitting in his meticulously sterile office he became Dr. Matz’s professional role model. When Dr. Matz grew up, he received his degree from Creighton University Dental School in Omaha, Nebraska, his hometown.

Today, Dr. Matz has a dental practice located in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Matz practices general dentistry and enjoys all aspects of the profession; treating the entire mouth and all its conditions as it relates to the body as a whole. He is passionate about working with entire families from grandchildren to grandparents. Dr. Matz believes each patient is an individual with unique physical and emotional needs. He has a special place in his heart for fearful patients and prides himself on putting them at ease.

Dr. Matz’s professional affiliations keep him on top of current trends and skills. He is active in local, state and national dental societies. Dr. Matz is a member of:

• Omaha District Dental Society
• Nebraska Dental Association
• American Dental Association
• American Academy of Implant Dentistry
• American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine

Dr. Matz attends regular seminars in a well-respected study club. And, he always exceeds the required number of hours of continuing education.

Dr. Matz’s hobbies allow him to indulge in his creative side. He enjoys playing and singing music, creating artwork, dental photography, gardening and church involvement. During the winter months, he visits schools with a show that teaches children about dentistry using magic, puppets and music.

Just as he strives to be a good provider for my dental family of patients, Dr. Matz also strives to be a great family man for his wife and three children.

Kate May, DDS

Dr. Kate May is passionate about treating your dental needs comprehensively in an environment and manner that puts her patients at ease. Her goal is to give her patients a healthy smile that will lead to a healthier, better quality of life overall. Dentistry is not just about treating the teeth, but rather the person as a whole, and it is an honor to be entrusted with your dental care!

Dr. May was born and raised here in Omaha. She grew up near the practice, and has loved returning to this area of the city to build her patient family. She attended Marian High School, earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Spanish from Creighton University, and then continued on to Creighton School of Dentistry to complete her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.

It was during her time at Creighton University that Dr. May decided to pursue dentistry. She was inspired by her childhood dentist’s passion for and dedication to the profession. Dr. May enjoys treating patients of all ages, but because of this, has a special place in her heart for treating children. She has recently started teaching at Creighton in the pediatric dentistry department, and is excited to be able to learn and teach alongside her childhood mentor.

Besides treating our pediatric population, Dr. May particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry, root canals, and crown procedures. Dr. May also has a knack for making fearful patients more comfortable in the dental chair by treating each individual with compassion and empathy. Additionally, she is certified in oral sedation and nitrous oxide to help her patients feel more at ease during their dental procedures.

Dr. May’s favorite part of dentistry is that it combines the intricacies of a scientific field with a sense of artistry. It is challenging to master both sides, which is why continuing education and being able to learn from experienced practitioners is so important. Dr. May loves learning new things and strives to continually advance her clinical skills by attending numerous dental lectures and seminars throughout the year.

She is also a member of the following organizations:

• Omaha District Dental Society
• Nebraska Dental Association
• American Dental Association

When not practicing dentistry, Dr. May loves to spend her free time working on design projects, traveling, and cooking. She also enjoys being outdoors when the weather allows, running, gardening, and reading.

We want to see your smile!
