Dr. Kate May is passionate about treating your dental needs comprehensively in an environment and manner that puts her patients at ease. Her goal is to give her patients a healthy smile that will lead to a healthier, better quality of life overall. Dentistry is not just about treating the teeth, but rather the person as a whole, and it is an honor to be entrusted with your dental care!
Dr. May was born and raised here in Omaha. She grew up near the practice, and has loved returning to this area of the city to build her patient family. She attended Marian High School, earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Spanish from Creighton University, and then continued on to Creighton School of Dentistry to complete her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
It was during her time at Creighton University that Dr. May decided to pursue dentistry. She was inspired by her childhood dentist’s passion for and dedication to the profession. Dr. May enjoys treating patients of all ages, but because of this, has a special place in her heart for treating children. She has recently started teaching at Creighton in the pediatric dentistry department, and is excited to be able to learn and teach alongside her childhood mentor.
Besides treating our pediatric population, Dr. May particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry, root canals, and crown procedures. Dr. May also has a knack for making fearful patients more comfortable in the dental chair by treating each individual with compassion and empathy. Additionally, she is certified in oral sedation and nitrous oxide to help patients to feel more at ease during dental procedures.
Dr. May’s favorite part of dentistry is that it combines the intricacies of a scientific field with a sense of artistry. It is challenging to master both sides, which is why continuing education and being able to learn from experienced practitioners is so important. Dr. May loves learning new things and strives to continually advance her clinical skills by attending numerous dental lectures and seminars throughout the year.
She is also a member of the following organizations:
Omaha District Dental Society
Nebraska Dental Association
American Dental Association
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. May loves to spend her free time on design projects, traveling, and cooking. She also enjoys being outdoors when the weather allows, running, gardening, or reading.
