SEDATION & FEAR MANAGEMENT
Dr. Matz has been treating patients for more than 20 years with a gentle touch and compassion, but he realizes that is not always enough to overcome the anxiety of dental visits for some. We offer nitrous oxide (happy gas) and oral sedation. Dr. Matz received training and certification through the nationally noted Dental Organization for Oral Conscious Sedation (DOCS) and uses techniques that help fearful patients achieve the dentistry they deserve in a relaxed state of mind.

PROFESSIONAL CLEANINGS Dental cleanings and regular exams are the best way to prevent minor problems from escalating. But even with daily brushing and flossing it isn't always possible to avoid some of the most common dental issues. Dr. Matz can help you prevent or resolve any of the following…
Bad Breath – Halitosis Chronic bad breath occurs when certain bacteria in the mouth (usually in the absence of oxygen) produce gases called Volatile Sulfur Compounds. To control halitosis we need to control the bacteria that produce these gases. Regular dental check ups, proper brushing and daily flossing are the most important measures to begin with
Gingivitis and Periodontitis Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. It is generally divided into two subcategories: Gingivitis and Periodontitis.
The longer plaque and tartar are on teeth, the more harmful they become. The bacteria cause inflammation of the gums that is called gingivitis. With gingivitis, the gums become red, swollen and can bleed easily.
When gingivitis is not treated, it can advance to periodontitis. In periodontitis, gums pull away from the teeth and form "pockets" that are infected. The teeth may eventually become loose and have to be removed.
FILLINGS We offer all types of dental fillings: ceramic, resin, silver and gold. Each type of material has advantages and disadvantages and we will explain them to help you pick what is right for you.
COSMETIC DENTISTRY & TOOTH WHITENING Cosmetic Dentistry is a broad term used to describe many types of procedures available to enhance the smile. The following are brief descriptions of the more common techniques utilized to give patients whiter, straighter-looking smiles:
Take Home Whitening Opalescense Take Home Whitening Gel offers customized convenience. This whitening gel is delivered via custom-made trays with safe and effective gel that won't migrate to your gums.
In Office Whitening
Opalescene Boost, a 38% hydrogen peroxide power bleaching gel, offers brighter whiter teeth after just two hours in the dental chair. Boost is chemically activated, so it starts working as soon as it is placed on your teeth.
Bonding The term bonding refers generally to the cover-up procedure, which involves the addition of tooth-colored resin to the front of the teeth. .
Porcelain and Ceramic Veneers Porcelain has long been used as a stronger restoration for cosmetic enhancement of the smile. Recently ceramic has been developed in much the same way. The procedure involves contouring the teeth at one appointment followed by a follow-up appointment to bond the porcelain to the teeth.
All-Ceramic Crowns Crowns have been fabricated to handle cosmetic tooth concerns for many years. Crowns encompass the entire tooth and can make dramatic changes in tooth size, shape and perceived straightness. Ceramic crowns allow light to pass through and bounce around the tooth in a much more natural way. Additionally, it is possible to bond the crown to the tooth, thus enhancing it's strength.
Porcelain and Ceramic Inlays Cosmetic restorations can now be found in the back of the mouth! Previously, white fillings did not have the longevity of most silver amalgam fillings. Today, bonding techniques and materials have improved to allow white inlay fillings to be placed with longer life spans.
DENTURES Although dentures are fast becoming extinct they are still the best option in some situations. We take our time to ensure the proper fit and look for the denture wearer. We use the toughest and best looking teeth available to give patients a healthy-looking smile that will last for years. We can also handle difficult-to-fit mouths with implants.
DENTAL IMPLANTS Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically placed beneath your gums and fuse to the jawbone, acting as artificial tooth roots. Replacement teeth, singularly or grouped on a bridge or denture, are then attached to the implant.
ROOT CANALS & EXTRACTIONS Nobody wants to have to have a root canal. But when a cavity is left undetected for too long the bacteria eventually take over the pulp with infection and creates a severely uncomfortable toothache. Luckily with advances in techniques and materials we are able to numb the tooth, remove the infection and restore the tooth in one visit.
